Today we will be returning to Paices Wood to help John Lerpiniere. We will be cutting and raking vegetation in the Glade area of the site, and possibly clearing along a ride and coppice edge.

Please remember to bring a drink, sanitiser and gloves.

From north Newbury or Thatcham, take the A4 towards Reading. At the Coach and Horses, turn right towards Brimpton. Go through Brimpton and Brimpton Common, then 3 miles from where you turned off the A4, turn left onto the B3051, signposted Aldermaston, Reading and Basingstoke. After half a mile turn left off the B3051 and half a mile further on, turn left at the T junction onto the A340, signposted Pangbourne and Aldermaston. Shortly afterwards, turn left at the brown signs for Paices Wood Country Parkland. Parking will be at the far end of the main/lower car park, so as you enter the site, drive past a small car park on your right, go under the height barrier and follow the signs to the main car park.

From south Newbury, take the A339 towards Basingstoke, and in Headley turn left towards Ashford Hill. When you reach a T junction in Ashford Hill, turn left onto the B3051, signposted Aldermaston. Follow the B3051 through Brimpton Common and after just under 2 miles from the Ashford Hill T junction turn left off the B3051. After half a mile turn left at the T junction onto the A340, signposted Pangbourne and Aldermaston. Shortly afterwards, turn left at the brown signs for Paices Wood Country Parkland. Parking will be at the far end of the main/lower car park, so as you enter the site, drive past a small car park on your right, go under the height barrier and follow the signs to the main car park.

NB – if you approach Paices Wood along the A340 from the A4, there’s no right turn into the entrance to the Country Park, so you need to drive past the entrance, go all the way round the next roundabout and come back to the entrance to turn left into it.
