Details

Today we will be working with Simon Melville on Newtown Common. We will be cutting scrub near Jonathan Hill. This will be similar to the task last month but using loppers and saws only and no tree poppers. Simon has arranged for us to park in Newtown Village Hall car park. Coming from Newbury on the A339, take the B4640, then turn left in front of the Swan Inn and head up the hill towards Burghclere. After about half a mile, as you approach the top of Jonathan Hill, there are five routes. The first track on the left is the exit route from the village hall, so ignore this; the second track on the left is the track leading to Newtown Village Hall and is signed as such. Follow this as it leads around to the left to Newtown Village Hall car park. The next route (3rd) is a small tarmac road which leads to some houses, straight ahead (4th) is the car park at Jonathan Hill. The road to Burghclere continues round to the right (5th). For the Village Hall car park use What3words:///reveal.health.movies. We will meet in the Jonathan Hill car park, What3words:///tripped.spindles.revisit

Please remember to bring thick gloves, hand sanitiser and a drink.
