Today we will be revisiting a BBOWT site we've not been to since July 2021, Wokefield Common. Our task will be to clear reeds from a pond. Some waders and long gloves will be available to wear.

Please remember to bring thick gloves, hand sanitiser and a drink.

From north Newbury or Thatcham, take the A4 towards Reading. At the Coach and Horses, turn right towards Brimpton. Go through Brimpton and Brimpton Common, then 3 miles from where you turned off the A4, turn left onto the B3051, signposted Aldermaston, Reading and Basingstoke. At the roundabout with the A340 continue straight over on Aldermaston Road, take the Reading Road past AWE and on towards Padworth Common and Burghfield Common. Drive past the left turning to Rectory Road, Padworth and continue for about 2 miles, when you will come to a pair of roundabouts. Take the first exit at the first roundabout and the first exit at the second roundabout onto Reading Road. (You would usually be able to take the second exit but Goring Lane is blocked to traffic.) After about a quarter of a mile, turn right at the traffic lights into Hollybush Lane, and a quarter of a mile further on, turn right onto Goring Lane. The entrance to the Wokefield Common car park is a short distance along Goring Lane on your left.. There is a 1.8m height restriction on entering the car park.

From the south of Newbury, take the A339 towards Basingstoke, in Headley turn left towards Ashford Hill. When you reach a T junction in Ashford Hill, turn left onto the B3051, signposted Aldermaston. Follow the B3051 through Brimpton Common.
